Sheet Music for Brass Band

he Salvation Army in Denmark celebrates 125 years in 2012. Other Nordic countries have already celebrated this - or will do it in short time. In such situations it is normal to look back, which is also the case with the thematic material in this march.

In the first part of the march you´ll find a song from around 1895 "The light has come, the dawn is here" made by Carl Hyllested - a Danish officer in The Salvation Army. The other half of the march is a Swedish pioneer song "I´m on my way to the Land above, where Salvation Soldiers never die".

Although these are really old songs with roots in three Nordic countries, the message is optimistic and looking ahead.

It cannot be hidden that inspiration has come from more than one source, among other John Philip Sousa (who wrote two marches for The Salvation Army) and the Danish/American composer Emil Söderström.
